History Unfolds: Contemporary Art Meets History was an international art exhibition for which the Swedish History Museum invited artists to engage with its research and cultural history collections. The project problematises notions of history, making the invisible visible and addressing pressing issues regarding the way history and cultural heritage are shaped and used. This publication comprises a presentation of the artworks in the exhibition, as well articles by scholars from different fields who probe and reveal hidden structures and unfold new insights.
