I had some thoughts connected to the Vikings – some I believed in and a few others that did not make sense. In this book, I’ve looked at seven areas, they chosen are picked only because of my own interests.

Viking – What is in the name? A Viking is not a person from a certain place, it is an occupation. The term ‘Viking’ was set a long time before what we today call the Viking era.

The Viking helmets? Viking helmets are rare finds probably because they were rarely used. I believe only the rich could afford a helmet, the common warrior did not use helmets. The helmets used in warfare were without horns.

Scandinavian raiding 4000 years before the Vikings. The first Scandinavian raids were done much earlier than Lindisfarne in 793 AC.

Were they really Viking gods? The gods who we consider to be from the Viking Age are much older than we believe.

Ragnar Lodbrok a myth? Ragnar Lodbrok did exist but was mishandled in the Scandinavian Sagas. The politically correct Viking. The real world of the Vikings was not all about trade and raiding. Politics at the time has to be considered when looking at how the past has been interpreted and framed.

Rushen and Rosien explained. The place names Rushen in English and Rosien in Manx Gaelic have their roots in the Viking tradition of setting up trade routes called Roden.
